WNMU Museum: Housed on the campus of Western New Mexico University in historic Fleming Hall, the WNMU Museum displays one of the world’s most complete and comprehensive collections of Mimbres pottery, basketry, and other artifacts in the Eisele Collection of Prehistoric Southwestern Pottery and Artifacts. The University Museum’s stunning examples of ancient pottery and artifacts reveal a glimpse of the cultural and artistic life of Southwest New Mexico, northern Chihuahua, and the Southwest as far back as 1500 years ago. Other highlights of the University Museum’s collections include: Casas Grandes Pottery; Maria Martinez, San Ildefonso, and Santa Clara Pottery (Geneva Back Collection); historic Navajo rugs; and historic photographs of Silver City, the WNMU Campus, and the surrounding areas.
