Mary Giardina has decades of experience working with clay, mud, and adobe which has led to an understanding of the many aspects of this medium.  Her home and pottery studio are located in Cliff, NM, on a mesa top that once was the habitat of Mimbreno potters and is within walking distance to the majestic Gila River and the Woodrow Ruins.  Mary combines the awareness of form, color, native plants and function to create decorative, utilitarian pottery.  Gary Snyder wrote that,” Wildness is the state of complete awareness” and the name “Wild Crafted Clay” is a reminder to practice awareness when working with clay.  Clay is a substance that is mutable, versatile and life giving.  Building with and living in structures made from adobe is an inspired attribute of past and present cultures.

**Participants will have the chance to go into the Woodrow Ruins with Mary during this class
