Krissy Ramirez discovered her passions for clay when she moved from the small border town of Douglas, AZ to the hills of Silver City, NM in 2014. Originally, her plan was to pursue a degree in Social Work but as a former work-study for the clay department at Cochise College, she couldn’t keep away from the ceramics studio at Western New Mexico University. Shortly after, she changed her major and received her BFA with a concentration in ceramics in 2017.  Krissy has been sculpting and throwing on the potter’s wheel for 7 years. She has done a number of wheel and hand building demonstrations with local public events in Silver City. Now for the second year, Krissy has been awarded the Artist in Resident position at WNMU and has created a strong reputation in the clay community with an outstanding work ethic and her brick/cinder block style.
