Mud Pie Contest 2019
Saturday, July 20th / 11am
Location: Silver City Farmer’s Market
Silver City CLAY Festival wanted to find a way to collaborate with the Silver City Food Co-op, and the idea was born to host a Mud Pie Contest at the Farmer’s Market. The event was so well loved that it has now become a tradition at the CLAY Festival and once again includes this fun, creative, and tasty activity – a Mud Pie Contest.
Like many culinary histories, there are a lot of versions of how the Mississippi Mud Pie came to be. Generally, most people agree that the traditional gooey chocolate pie with crumbles is so named because it resembles the muddy earth and crumbly dirt banks of the Mississippi Delta.
The Mud Pie Contest is open to children and humans of ALL ages. Here’s your invitation: Have fun, be creative, and make a magnificent mud pie that tastes wonderful and looks like dirt, earth, mud, clay – however you envision and bake it. Traditional Mississippi Mud Pies are welcome, as are creative interpretations and interesting decorations.
Esteemed community members will be on hand to act as Mud Pie judges at the Silver City Farmer’s Market on
Saturday, July 20th at 11am
There will be prizes for the top three pies!!!
