Ruminations Submission - 2
Submission Requirements
One entry consists of 1 piece; each artist may submit a maximum of 3 entries.
If accepted, each entry must be marked on the back with the artist’s name, title, and retail price.
Size limits:
FREE STANDING PIECES: No taller or wider than 24”, no heavier than 20 lbs. Must be stable and pedestal ready.
WALL PIECES: No taller or wider than 24”, no heavier than 10 lbs. Must be ready to be securely hung.
Entries must be made of natural clay.
There are no restrictions as to design, finish or technique.
All accepted entries must be for sale during exhibition.
Registration and Submission Steps
STEP ONE: Register entries and make payment online: www.CLAYfestival.com
STEP TWO: Email submission images to:
Title of Email: Artist Name_Ruminations
Body of Email: Email MUST include: Name, description of entry inspiration/story, dimensions, clay body, firing & glazing technique OF EACH ENTRY.
Each submission photo MUST be named with the registered name of the entry.
Image Requirements
Submit a MAXIMUM of three images for each entry.
Images must be in .jpg format and high resolution (300 dpi/ppi), with a minimum of 1800 pixels on the longest side and a 20MB maximum file size. Only images that meet this criterion will be considered.
Artist identification must not be visible on the submitted images, in order for the jurying to occur anonymously.
Accepted works that differ greatly from the submitted images will be disqualified.
Fees & Shipping
Entry fees: $30 for one entry, $35 for two, and $40 for three.
Payment is to be made via PayPal, on the CLAY Festival website, at the time of registration: www.CLAYFestival.com
For entries selected to be a part of the Ruminations exhibition, the artist is responsible for shipping and insuring accepted work to and from the exhibition.
Hand delivery and pickup are also acceptable. Shipped works must be sent in an easily reusable container/packaging and must include prepaid return shipping and insurance. The CLAY Festival will insure accepted works from receipt up to the time of return shipment or pickup, per the exhibition timeline.
Delivered works not picked up by July 31st, 2021 or not sent with return shipping, will become the property of the Silver City CLAY Festival.

$500 – FIRST PLACE: Tad Van der Weele Memorial Award
$300 – SECOND PLACE
$200 – THIRD PLACE
Awards will be announced during the Silver City CLAY Festival – July 12-18, 2021. Exact date/time of award announcements, TBD
2021 Timeline
May 31st – Entry Submission & Fee Deadline June 7th - 9th – Notification of accepted entries June 20th – Accepted works must be received
July 2nd – Ruminations Exhibition Opening
July 12th - 18th, 2021 – Silver City CLAY Festival July 31st – Exhibition closes
August 2nd – 5th – Pickup of hand delivered work August 2nd - 11th – Return shipment of unsold work
Eligibility
The Exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older, residing in the United States and internationally.
Accepted entries must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale, with CLAY retaining 40 percent of the total sale price.
All works must have been completed in the last year.
Entries shown in previous CLAY Festival juried exhibitions will NOT be accepted.
Image Use & Photography
CLAY Festival retains the right to reproduce submitted digital images and to photograph all works displayed in the exhibition, regardless of copyright, for purposes of documentation, education, sales, and publicity.
